A wonderful surprise, this is an unflinching, heart wrenching narrative of one of the darkest moments of modern human history - The Rape of Nanking. While people are massacred on a genocidal scale, we find heroes in unlikely places - a Nazi businessman, a Japanese officer and more. Much of what transpires does not make for comfortable viewing. But if you give it a chance, it will move you. 8.5 muffins from 10
